What are the differences between assisted AI, augmented AI and autonomous AI?
Use case is driving a car:
Assisted AI
A driving system might provide a lane departure warning.
Augmented AI
Would provide lane centering assistance to keep the vehichle in the lane. Like my wife's Explorer. The system can be overridden by using the turn signals or by turning the wheel through the resistance of the system.
Autonomous AI
Fully autonomous driving requiring no feedback from the driver or engagement at all from the driver.
Use case in healthcare:
Assisted AI
Wearables that track indicators and alert the user of health risks.
Augmented AI
Prediction of adverse drug events.
Autonomous AI
Algorithmic pancreas that regulates glucose for diabetics. Shout out to the Elixir Nerves Project.
Use case is customer service:
Assisted AI
Routing call center requests to human agents.
Augmented AI
Making script recommendations to the agent based on customer data.
Autonomous AI
Automatically processing customer requests conversationally.
